Wine has been ported to Haiku

With the recent "port" of X11 dependencies for Haiku, we have a still unexplored potential of new programs for our favorite platform such as the GTK libraries , however this has been overshadowed for now thanks to the Wine port that has been taught recently by x512, this port is also thanks to the XliBe . It was also reported on the Phoronix portal .

Developer "X512", who has achieved many other great milestones in Haiku development, from adapting the graphics driver by GPU and other important work within the operating system, has addressed Wine this week. And it has made rapid progress in the ability to run Windows programs on the BeOS-inspired open source operating system.

X512 has been sharing their progress in real time through the Haiku forums. These are some of the first fruits of their patches to have wine in Haiku.

Here we can see some of the screenshots that were shared on the forum and in Telegram groups about Haiku.

Even programs that have not yet been ported natively (for now since we will see this thanks to xlibe soon too) for haiku like Inkscape already work with the new wine port.

Even the legendary and iconic paint can be executed with this preliminary port.

The patch not yet officially released is here and you can try to apply it if you have some basic knowledge and compile your own version of wine for Haiku: https://gist.github.com/X547/4a0a6a2aec1ee1994ac1855b90e94195
